The Two Materials Most Homeowners Choose

  • Premium VinylCustom-made to fit your opening
  • Fiberglass CompositeCustom-made to fit your opening
  • Both covered by the same Lifetime Window Guarantee

When a house gets replacement windows, the frames are usually one of two things: premium vinyl or fiberglass composite. Those are the two most popular options for replacement. The other route is wood or aluminum, and those windows cost far more by comparison. Whichever of the two you pick, the window is custom-made to fit your opening and covered by the same Lifetime Window Guarantee.

Frame material is also where a lot of window sales pitches start. Big franchises tend to make frame material their main selling point. We don't push one over the other. We offer both, and the right answer depends on your house, your budget and how you want the finished windows to look.

Premium Vinyl Windows

Premium vinyl is the practical favorite. It's low maintenance and doesn't need painting, so once the windows are in, there's little left for you to keep up with. It's also a popular, budget-friendly choice, which matters when you're replacing every window in the house rather than one or two.

The word "premium" matters here. Big box stores mostly sell builder-grade windows, and that isn't what goes into your home. What goes in is a premium product, custom-made to fit its opening.

Premium vinyl is often a good fit if:

  • You want a clean, low-upkeep window that doesn't need painting
  • You're replacing most or all of the windows in your home and want to keep the total in check
  • You'd rather put more of your budget toward the number of windows than the frame material

Fiberglass Composite Windows

Fiberglass composite is strong and stays stable through temperature swings. It typically costs more than vinyl. If you're weighing fiberglass windows for a South Tulsa home, the only way to know whether the difference is worth it for your house is to see the two prices next to each other. Jared can quote the same windows in both materials at one visit, so the extra cost of fiberglass shows up as a number for your house instead of a guess.

Fiberglass composite is often a good fit if:

  • Strength and stability through temperature swings are high on your list
  • You're comfortable spending more per window for the material
  • You'd like to compare it directly against vinyl before you decide

There's no rule that says one is right for everybody. That's why we price both.

Vinyl or Fiberglass? Compare Them Side by Side

You don't have to make this call from a spec sheet. The easiest way to decide is to see what each option costs for your windows.

In almost every case you'll have those prices before he leaves, and you can take your time to choose. There are no same-day discounts and no pressure to pick on the spot. For the full picture of what moves the price, see our window replacement cost page.

At your free estimate, Jared can put together several quotes in the same visit. You might ask for:

  • The whole house in fiberglass composite, and the whole house in premium vinyl
  • Just the front of the house, in either material
  • One brand against another
  • Everything in white against everything in black

Brands We Install: Marvin, Amsco, Alside and More

We install several trusted brands, including Marvin, Amsco and Alside. That's on purpose.

A company that carries one window has one answer to every question. Working with more than one manufacturer lets Jared match the window to your house instead, and quote one brand against another so you can see the difference for yourself.

If you already have one of these brands in mind, tell him at the estimate. If you don't, that's fine too. Part of the visit is walking through what each option looks like on your home and what it costs.

Colors and Grid Patterns

Color and grids change the look of a house from the street. An updated look is one of the reasons homeowners give for replacing their windows, right alongside comfort and energy bills.

Most of the homes Jared sees have white windows with a colonial grid pattern, and that combination looks dated. When it's time to replace, these are the two directions Jared sees homeowners take:

  • Black exterior, no grid. Some homeowners make this switch. It gives the house a sharper, more current look.
  • White exterior, no grid. Others keep the white and simply drop the grid for a cleaner, simpler face.

Color options include white and black. You don't have to decide in the abstract, either. Jared can quote the whole house in white and the whole house in black so you can weigh the look against the price. Our page on window replacement in Jenks covers the white-to-black switch in more detail.

Low-E Glass and Why It Matters

The frame is only part of a window. Glass does a lot of the work, and it's where older windows fall furthest behind.

Many older windows don't have Low-E glass. Low-E is a thin, invisible coating on the glass that helps reflect heat. In summer it helps keep heat out. In winter it helps keep heat in. You won't notice the coating when you look through the glass.

Glass type is also one of the factors that affects the price of a window, so ask Jared about glass options at your estimate. To learn more about drafts, fogging and energy bills, read about energy-efficient windows.

Custom Sizes and Shapes

Every window we install is custom-made to fit your home. That custom build is the reason windows typically take 5 to 8 weeks to arrive after you order.

After: tan siding gable with a new black-frame arched window unit
  1. When the clock starts

The clock starts when you accept your quote and the order goes in.

  2. While you wait

Jared lets you know when the manufacturer confirms your windows are scheduled to be made, checks in weekly while you wait, and once they arrive, we schedule your installation date.

Custom shapes are part of the deal too. The one thing to know is pricing.

Jared gives you a price on the spot in almost every case, and the exception is a custom shape or custom item that isn't already in his pricing calculator. That one may take a little longer to price.

Backed by the Lifetime Window Guarantee

Whichever material you choose, every EverLight window comes with our Lifetime Window Guarantee: if your windows fail, fog, or break, we fix or replace them for as long as you live in the home.

It's one of our Five Guarantees, which together add up to $3,600 in guaranteed value and come with every project at no extra cost. See all five on our Five Guarantees page, or read how our replacement window process works.

Vinyl and Fiberglass Window FAQs

Should I choose vinyl or fiberglass windows?

Both are strong choices for replacement windows. Premium vinyl is low maintenance, doesn't need painting and is the more budget-friendly option. Fiberglass composite is strong and stable through temperature swings but typically costs more. The best way to decide is to have Jared quote both at your free estimate and compare the prices for your home side by side.

What window brands do you install?

EverLight Windows installs several trusted brands, including Marvin, Amsco and Alside. Because we aren't tied to one manufacturer, Jared can recommend the window that suits your house and price brands against each other at the same free estimate.

Can I switch from white windows to black?

Yes. Some homeowners who replace their windows switch from white to a black exterior with no grid for a cleaner, more current look. Color options include white and black, and Jared can quote the whole house in white and the whole house in black during the same visit so you can compare the look and the price.

Can I get rid of the grids in my windows?

Yes. Many older windows have a colonial grid pattern that makes a home look dated, and replacement is a good time to drop it. Some homeowners choose a black exterior with no grid, and others keep a white exterior with no grid. Jared will walk you through the grid options at your free estimate.

Do you install custom-shaped windows?

Yes. Every window from EverLight Windows is custom-made to fit your home, including custom shapes. In almost every case, Jared prices your windows on the spot during your free estimate. A custom shape that isn't already in his pricing calculator is the one exception, and it may take a little longer to get your price.
